i make games
← back to homesometimes I make a video game and put it on itch.io.
I have made games with Unity, PuzzleScript, PICO-8 and Raylib.
I made some games with GameMaker Studio as a teen, but I don't have them anymore.
I have also written some adventures for tabletop rpgs, which I intend to release some day.

I haven’t touched it since, well, 2021; I have no idea what it’s like to use it now, except that it has AI in it I guess. During the time I used it it received updates pretty frequently, which is a good thing, but it also means don’t update it during a project or it will break everything. It doesn’t happen every time, but the one time it happens is pretty rough.
It has many features, although they’re often hidden or hard to use correctly – and sometimes, you feel like they are impossible to use correctly. Am I right, kinetic-body collision detection?
It has features for nearly every aspect of gave developement you can think of, so I don’t think it’s bad if you want to get a prototype done quickly. If I wanted to make something serious, maybe with a team or something, I would probably have a hard time figuring out how to make all the features interact well. Maybe I’m just too easily distracted, and too much of a control freak.
Anyway, I stopped using it when Handmade Hero taught me that it’s not the only way to make a game, and when I decided I prefer to own the programs I use, rather than subscribe to them. Nowadays I’m not in favor of how they encourage the use of AI for content creation.
